Denise FERNANDES (Denise Fernandes) est une réalisatrice et scénariste.

Elle est connue pour NHA MILA (2020), HANAMI (2024).

Denise Fernandes est née à Lisbonne de parents capverdiens et a grandi en Suisse. Son premier court métrage, « One Night » (2011), a été présenté en première au Festival du film de Locarno.
De 2011 à 2013, elle étudie la réalisation à l’École internationale du cinéma et de la télévision (EICTV) à Cuba, où elle réalise les courts métrages « Pan Sin Mermelada » (2012), sélectionné à la section « Talents à venir (Upcoming Talent) » du Festival de Soleure et « Idyllium », récompensé au Festival international de Winterthur.
En 2020, elle réalise le court-métrage « Nha Mila » présenté à Locarno, Vila do conde, Uppsala, Zinebi, Black Night Tallin, Tampere, New York film festival, etc.
Son premier long métrage est « Hanami » (2024).

Née en 1990 à Lisbonne (Portugal).
2008-11 Études à la CISA (Conservatorio Internazionale di Scienze Audiovisive), Lugano. 2011-13 Études à la Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV, Cuba. Ses courts métrages PAN SIN MERMELATA (2012) était sélectionné pour Upcoming Talent aux Journées de Soleure et IDYLLIUM (2013), primé au Festival international de Winterthur. Son premier long métrage HANAMI a été sélectionné parmi soiante-dix projets pour le Solothurn Talent Lab 2016 et a reçu le prix du meilleur premier projet par la Société suisse des auteurs (SSA). HANAMI (2024) est présenté en première dans la section Concorso Cineasti del presente de Locarno.

Swiss, Portuguese Cape Verdean Filmmaker.

Denise Fernandes was born in Lisbon to Cape Verdean parents and grew up in Switzerland. Her latest short film NHA MILA (2020) was presented at the Locarno Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, among others, and was nominated for the European Film Awards. HANAMI (2024), filmed in Cape Verde, is her feature directorial debut.

Denise Fernandes (1990) was born in Lisbon to Cape Verdean parents and grew up in Tessin (Switzerland). Her short film, « Nha Mila » (2020), premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, in the Pardi di Domani section. Nha Mila was a European Film Awards candidate and has been screened at over 40 international film festivals. It was nominated as Best National Short Film at the Sophia Awards 2021 and invited by MoMa and Lincoln Center in New York for the New Directors/New Film Festival.

Her first short film, « One Night » (2011), premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. She studied filmmaking at the International School of Film and TV in Cuba, where she directed « Pan sin mermelada » (2012), which was selected for Upcoming Talents at the Solothurn Film Festival, and « Idyllium » (2013), which received an award from the Winterthur International Short Film Festival. 
Hanami » (2024), filmed in Cape Verde, is her feature directorial debut.

Denise Fernandes nasceu em Lisboa em 1990 de pais de origem cabo-verdiana e foi criada no sul da Suíça. Em 2011 graduou-se em realização e produção cinematográfica no Conservatório Internacional de Ciências audiovisuais em Lugano (CISA). No mesmo ano, a sua curta de diploma Una Notte estreia na 64ª edição do Festival de Locarno. De 2011 a 2013 estuda realização na Escola Internacional de Cinema e TV (EICTV) de Cuba, onde dirige as curtas Pan Sin Mermelada, que merece a nomeação de Upcoming Talent no Solothurn Festival e Idyllium, premiada no Festival Internacional de Winterthur. Está atualmente a preparar a sua primeira longa-metragem, Hanami, ambientada em Cabo Verde. Hanami foi selecionado entre 70 projetos para o Solothurn Talent Lab 2016 e premiado como melhor projeto de primeira obra pela Sociedade Suíça dos Autores (SSA).
