Après avoir perdu sa fille, Rita retourne au Mozambique, ce pays africain où elle a vécu son enfance, pour enquêter sur un mystère du passé : la vérité sur la mort d’Yvone Kane, une ancienne guérillero et militante politique. Dans ce pays, où le progrès se construit sur les ruines d’un passé violent, Rita retrouve sa vieille mère, Sara, une femme dure et solitaire qui vit là depuis de nombreuses années. Alors que Sara vit les derniers jours de sa vie en cherchant un sens à ses actes passés, Rita plonge dans un territoire marqué par les cicatrices de l’histoire et hanté par les fantômes de la guerre.

Yvone Kane
After her daughter’s death, Rita returns to her childhood’s African country to investigate the death of Yvone Kane, a former political activist and guerrilla fighter. There, she becomes embroiled in a journey into the atmospheric longing of a lost paradise. Rita discovers a country where progress is build above the ruins of a violent past, while meets her mother (Sara), still living in the old familiar house.
After the death of her daughter, Rita returns to Mozambique, the African country of her childhood to investigate a past mystery: the death of Yvone Kane, a former political activist and guerrilla fighter. In that country, where progress has been built on the ruins of a violent past, Rita reunites with her ageing mother, Sara, a tough, solitary woman who has lived there for many years. As Sara spends her last days trying to make sense of her past actions, Rita’s search for the truth surrounding the death of Yvone gets her embroiled in a land scarred by its History and haunted by ghosts of war and evil. But every path she follows seems to lead her towards the revelation that redemption and forgetting are impossible.

« Uma viagem ao passado num território assombrado por fantasmas da guerra e do mal ». Depois de perder sua filha, Rita volta ao país africano onde viveu a sua infância para investigar um mistério do passado: a verdade sobre a morte de Yvone Kane, uma ex-guerrilheira e ativista política. Nesse país, onde o progresso se constrói sobre as ruínas de um passado violento, Rita reencontra a sua velha mãe, Sara, uma mulher dura e solitária que vive ali há muitos anos. Enquanto Sara vive os últimos dias de sua vida procurando um sentido para seus atos passados, Rita embrenha-se num território marcado pelas cicatrizes da história e assombrado por fantasmas da guerra.
