Revue Noire
In 1998, Revue Noire organised an itinerant exhibition entitled Afrique par elle-même and published a first « anthology »: Revue Noire (Ed.), Anthologie de la photographie africaine et de l’Océan indien, Paris, 2nd edition, 1999, 432 p. This has to be the most exhaustive publication currently available, with contributions by Behrend (on Kenya), G. Hersant and R. Pankhurst (on Ethiopia), S. Mofokeng (on South Africa), V. Viditz-Ward (on Sierra Leone), T. Wendl (on Ghana), and many more.
Revue Noire has also edited an entire series (Soleil) on African photography:
