Il a commencé sa carrière cinématographique en 2011 à travers différents ateliers organisés par différentes organisations comme Goethe (centre culturel allemand) Kigali, fondation Maisha, films Almond Tree etc…



Il a réalisé différents projets vidéo et cinématographiques pour des particuliers et des Organisations et en tant qu'assistant réalisateur et superviseur de scénario il a travaillé sur différents projets cinématographiques (MAGERAGERE/CITY DROPOUT, CROSSING LINES, IMFURA, THE WAITING etc…) qui ont été projetés à travers différents festivals de cinéma à travers le monde comme Africa in Motion, Leuven African film festival, Zanzibar festivals internationaux de cinéma etc… Il est également professeur à temps partiel de préproduction et de scénarisation à la 94Hi film school, une petite école de cinéma au Rwanda et il travaille également avec le festival de cinéma africain Mashariki en tant que responsable de la programmation.



Il s'intéresse beaucoup aux œuvres de différents cinéastes, principalement des cinéastes d'avant-garde ou expérimentaux.



Son film expérimental "Aisa" a été officiellement sélectionné à la 14ème édition du festival indépendant et court métrage de Dhaka. Son deuxième court-métrage expérimental "Atta" est sélectionné pour la vidéothèque P'silo et son court-métrage "/ɪəri/" (2019) a été sélectionné et projeté en compétition internationale de la 21e Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur. Son court-métrage documentaire, "Each of Her Scars Has a Story" (2022) était en compétition au 26 festival ÉCRANS NOIRS de Yaoundé (01-08 Octobre 2022, Cameroun).



He's the co-founder of KIRURI MFN, an independent production company based in Kigali. He is also the co-initiator and curator of 250 Film Experiment Cine-Club, a cine club based in Kigali, Rwanda.



Remy Ryumugabe est un cinéaste/artiste visuel rwandais primé. Ses œuvres, dont MELPOMENE, MNEMOSYNE, FROM HERE TO THERE ont été sélectionnées et projetées/exposées dans le monde entier, notamment à l’Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, au Festival international du court métrage d’Uppsala, au Festival international du film de Fribourg, à l’International Kansk Video Festival, au WNDX festival of the moving image, au BIDEODROMO International Experimental Film and Video Festival, à l’Africa in Motion Film Festival, au Short Short Story Film Festival, à la Galerie Imane Farés, au Museum Hilversum, Het Nieuwe Instituut, entre autres, et ses deux courts métrages FROM HERE TO THERE, qu’il a écrit et réalisé, et MUZUNGA, qu’il a produit ont été présentés en première mondiale dans le cadre de la compétition internationale du 68e Festival international du court métrage d’Oberhausen. FROM HERE TO THERE a ensuite été projeté dans d’autres festivals internationaux, comme le 41e Festival international du court métrage d’Uppsala, où il a reçu la mention spéciale du jury, et le 15e Festival Internacional de Cine Africano de Argentina, où il a remporté le prix du meilleur film expérimental. Son récent court-métrage documentaire EACH OF HER SCARS HAS A STORY a été sélectionné pour le court-métrage documentaire international de la 26e édition du festival ÉCRANS NOIRS, du 15e Festival Internacional de Cine Africano de Argentina et du 8e Mashariki African Film festival.



En tant que producteur, il est attaché à différents projets (en développement ou en post-production) qui ont participé à différents laboratoires ou ateliers à travers le monde comme Ouaga Producers Lab, Takmil l’atelier de post-production du Festival International du Film de Carthage, Yaounde Film Lab, Résidence d’écriture de Moulin d’Andé entre autres.



Il est le co-fondateur de KIRURI MFN, une société de production indépendante basée à Kigali. Il est également le co-initiateur et le curateur du 250 Film Experiment Cine-Club, un ciné-club basé à Kigali, au Rwanda.

Rwandan filmmaker, screenwriter, actor and photographer. Remy RYUMUGABE is Actor, Cinematographer, Producer, Film Editor, Film Director, Photographer. He began his filmmaking career in 2011 through different workshops organized by different organizations like Goethe (German culture center) Kigali, Maisha foundation, Almond Tree films etc… He has directed different video and film projects for individual and Organizations and as assistant director and script supervisor he has worked on different film projects (MAGERAGERE/CITY DROPOUT, CROSSING LINES, IMFURA, THE WAITING etc…) that have been screened through different film festivals around the world like Africa in Motion, Leuven African film festival, Zanzibar international film festivals etc… He is also a part time teacher of pre-production and screenwriting at 94Hi film school, a small film school in Rwanda and he's also working with Mashariki African film festival as Head of programmation. He is very interested in works of different filmmakers mostly Avant-garde or experimental filmmakers. His experimental film "Aisa" has been officially selected at 14th edition of Dhaka independent and short film festival.
