Rabah Laradji

Rabah Laradji (رباح. لارادجي), né en 1943 à Bordj Menaïel (wilaya de Boumerdès) en Algérie, est un réalisateur et scénariste algérien.



Il fait ses études cinématographiques à  l'INC (Institut National du Cinéma d'Alger 1964-1966) à Ben Aknoun, dans la proche banlieue ouest de la ville d'Alger qui formera la seule et unique promotion de cinéastes comme Farouk Beloufa, Sid Ali Mazif, Merzak Allouache, Mohammed Lamine Merbah, Sid Ali Fettar... avant sa fermeture.



Après son film diplôme, Rabah Laradji est admis à L'ONCIC (Office National pour le Commerce et l'Industrie du Cinéma) comme assistant réalisateur. Il contribue à à la réalisation de plusieurs films, documentaires et fictions. Il réalise son 1er court métrage de fiction en 35m/m en 1969 et découvre le documentaire. Il en réalisera réalise toute une série, dont certains en docu-fiction.



En 1981,  Rabah Laradji réalise enfin son 1er long métrage de fiction "Un Toit, Une Famille" qui obtientra le Prix d'Interprétation Masculine pour Faouzi Saichi au Festival de Carthage en 1982,  alors qu'il interprète un rôle pour la 1ère fois de sa vie, sans aucune expérience artistique préalable.

He studied film at the INC (National Institute of Cinema of Algiers 1964-1966) in Ben Aknoun, in the western suburbs of Algiers. The school produced the only cohort of filmmakers such as Farouk Beloufa, Sid Ali Mazif, Merzak Allouache, Mohammed Lamine Merbah, and Sid Ali Fettar before its closure.

After graduating, Rabah Laradji was admitted to the ONCIC (National Office for Cinema Commerce and Industry) as an assistant director. He contributed to the production of several feature films, both documentaries and fiction. He directed his first short fiction film in 35mm in 1969 and discovered documentary filmmaking. He went on to direct a whole series of these, including some docu-fiction films.

In 1981, Rabah Laradji finally directed his first feature-length fiction film, "Un Toit, Une Famille," which won the Best Actor Award for Faouzi Saichi at the Carthage Film Festival in 1982, while playing a role for the first time in his life, without any prior experience.
