Djohra Bachene (Djamila)

Djamila, de son vrai nom Djohra Bachene, est une actrice, animatrice et chanteuse algérienne de musique traditionnelle kabyle.



Elle est née le 2 mai 1930 à Aït Bouhini, en Algérie, et décédée le 29 octobre 2019 à Alger. Djohar Bachane, de son vrai nom, est née le 2 mai 1930 à Aït Bouhini , Algérie. Orpheline de père à l'âge de 12 ans, Djamila bénéficie d'avoir rencontré la chanteuse kabyle Chabha qui la prend sous aile et l'introduit dans le monde de la radio.



C'est en 1951 qu'elle fera ses premiers pas sur la Chaine II, radio algérienne en langue amazighe. Elle rejoindra ensuite la chorale féminine Urar n’lkhalath côtoyant Cherifa, Hnifa, Nouara et autres grandes chanteuses kabyles. Elle écrira et interprétera de nombreuses chansons dans le style musical kabyle « Achewiq ».



En plus de sa carrière musicale et radiophonique, Djamila entame en 1962 une carrière d'actrice au cinéma et à la télévision. Elle apparaît notamment dans les films La Colline oubliée de Abderrahmane Bouguermouh, Le Vent des Aurès de Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina et plusieurs téléfilms aux côtés de Mohamed Hilmi.



Elle est décédée le 29 octobre 2019 à Alger.

Djohra Bachene, her real name, was born on May 2, 1930 in Aït Bouhini, Algeria. Orphaned by her father at the age of 12, Djamila benefits from having met the Kabyle singer Chabha who takes her under wing and introduces her to the world of radio.



It was in 1951 that she took her first steps on Channel II, an Algerian radio station in the Amazigh language. She will then join the Urar n’lkhalath women’s choir alongside Cherifa, Hnifa, Nouara and other great Kabyle singers. She wrote and performed many songs in the Kabyle musical style “Achewiq”.



In addition to her musical and radio career, Djamila began a career as an actress in cinema and television in 1962. She appears in particular in the films The Forgotten Hill by Abderrahmane Bouguermouh, Le Vent des Aurès by Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina and several TV films alongside Mohamed Hilmi.



She died on October 29, 2019 in Algiers.
