Portrait tumultueux du « Grand Z », conducteur de la locomotive Abidjan Ouagadougou pendant 20 ans, licencié en 1995 par la Société des chemins de Fer du Burkina Faso, à la suite de la privatisation imposée par la Banque Mondiale. Grand jouisseur impénitent, il a alors été terrassé en pleine allégresse, a tout perdu, et coule depuis des jours bien sombres en attendant sa pension de retraite.

The film portrays the hectic life of the « Great Z », an engine driver of the « Abidjan-Ouagadougou » line for twenty years, laid off in 1995 by the National Railways of Burkina Faso following the privatization imposed by the World Bank. An inveterate hedonist to the bone, he suddenly found himself struck down as he was experiencing pure joyfulness. He lost everything, and has since then lived a gloomy life waiting for his retirement pension.
