APPEL A FILMS
Règlements de Compétition LAFF
1- Le film doit être produit en Afrique et son réalisateur doit avoir une nationalité africaine. L’action du film doit se dérouler dans un des pays du continent africain ou avoir un lien au continent africain.
2- le film doit être produit dans l’année 2012.
3- Un comité choisira les films qui doivent participer à la compétition du LAFF.
4- Les films participants aux compétitions ne doivent pas avoir été déjà projetés dans les salles égyptiennes.
5- L’appel à participations commence le 7 octobre 2012. La date limite est le 22 décembre 2012 pour recevoir deux copies DVD et le matériel de promotion (bande-annonce, photos, affiche, etc.).
6- Le matériel de promotion ne sera pas retourné au cas où le film n’est pas accepté. Le LAFF ne les utilisera pas à titre commercial.
7- LAFF annoncera la sélection le 1er janvier 2013.
8- Les participants doivent envoyer les copies traduites en langue anglaise au bureau du festival avant le 10 février 2013.
9- LAFF s’occupera de la réexpédition des copies: Les participants prennent en charge les couts de l’expédition des films de leur pays vers l’Égypte et LAFF prendra en charge, le retour du film.
10- LAFF prendra en charge l’assurance des films contre les risques de perte et de dégradation et lors de la réception.
11 – Les films sélectionnés seront projetés trois fois lors des activités du festival à l’exception des films lauréats qui seront repris les centres culturels au Caire et à Alexandrie.
12 – Le soussigné de ce formulaire doit avoir le droit de demander la participation de son film au festival et vérifier que les informations inscrites dans ce formulaire sont correctes et qu’il accepte qu’il n’aura pas le droit de retirer le film après l’annonce de sa participation au festival.

Regulations of LAFF Competition
– Submitted Film should be an African production, by an African director with a plot in Africa or related to Africa
– Submitted Film should be a 2012 production
– Selection committee will choose the films that participates in LAFF competition
– Participating films should not have been screened in the Egyptian cinemas
– Calls for Participation starts Oct. 7, 2012. Deadline to receive the application form, two DVD copies of the film along with promotional material (posters, flyers, stills, and synopsis) is Dec. 15, 2012.
– LAFF will not return the received material in case the film was not selected.
– Material will not be used in any commercial activities.
– LAFF management will announce the selected films by January 1, 2013
– Participating filmmakers should send the final screening copy subtitled in English to LAFF prior to February 10, 2013.
– LAFF will handle one-way shipment of copies: Participant will handle the cost of sending the film to Egypt and LAFF will handle the return shipment.
– In case of loss or damage of the copy, LAFF will cover its insurance.
– Films will be screened three times during LAFF’s period except for the winning films that will be re-screened in non-profit cultural centers in Cairo and Alexandria after LAFF.

Awards of Long Film Competition
1 – Salah Abou-Seif Best Film Award goes to Hidden Beauties (Manemotsh) directed by Nouri Bouzid, Tunisia
2 – The Special Jury Prize goes to Nairobi Half Life directed by David’Tosh’ Gitonga, Kenya
3 – Technical Achievement Award goes to Moussa Touré director of La Pirogue (The Boat), Senegal
4 – Special certificates of recognition from the jury goes to both of:
– Coming Forth by Day, directed by Hala Loutfi, Egypt
– Town of Runners, directed by Jerry Rothwell, Ethiopia
Awards of Short Film Competition
1 – Best Film Award goes to Habsin (Softly on Saturday Morning, directed by Sofia Dijama, Algeria
2 – The Special Jury Prize Award goes to Studio, directed by Amgad Abou Ela, Sudan
3 – Technical Achievement Award goes to costume design and art direction in the film 9th April 1938 (Bousculades) by Sawssen Saya and Tarek Khalladi
El-Hosseiny Abou-Deif Freedom Award
El-Hosseiny Abou-Deif Freedom Award goes to Eyes of Freedom, Street of Death by Ahmed and Ramadan Salah Sony, Egypt
Critic Tarek El-Shenawiy, jury member, said that Press Syndicate express its appreciation of this awards created by the festival in the name of El-Hosseiny Abou-Deif, who paid with his life for freedom and dignity of his homeland Egypt.
Animation Awards
1 – Best Film Award goes to Mirrors by Nadia El-Rayes, Tunisia
2 – Special certificate of recognition goes to The Forest by Adel El-Badrawy, Egypt
3 – Special certificate of recognition goes to Hisab by Ezra Wibby, Ethiopia
Radwan El-Kashef Independent Shabab Foundation Award
It goes to My Beautiful Nightmare by Perivi John Katjavivi, Namibia
